These one-of-a-kind studio art camps are designed for four students maximum - space is limited! AM and PM summer camp sessions meet Monday through Friday from 9:30am until noon and 1pm to 3:30. All supplies are included with tuition. Studio sessions will include a variety of activities with an open studio atmosphere. Please be sure your child is able to attend all five days of camp. All camps end with a fifteen minute, end-of-camp gallery exhibition that you are invited to!
Summer camps are facilitated by artist-educator Jenna Bauer in her painting studio on the third floor of the Holsum Studio Building. She brings over 20 years of inspired teaching experience to her students.
Make your own sketch book for the week and learn to draw from real life and from your imagination. No drawing experience necessary; non-beginnners are welcome, too. Using a wide range of drawing materials (including charcoal and kneaded erasers) topics covered will include vanishing point, perspective drawing, negative space, contour drawing, value drawing, drawing from a still life, and exploring the possibilities of abstraction. Short introductions to art history will be part of each class. Challenging fun learning a life long skill.
This camp combines bookmaking, printmaking, painting and drawing. Be ready for a wide variety of studio projects including sculptural paper folding, simple needle and thread bookbinding and collage; also plenty of colorful messy printmaking and other 2D projects. Students are encouraged to fill their new hand made books with stories and create realistic and abstract works of art.
This studio art camp is for children who Love to Paint (or would love to learn) and would enjoy developing their own creative practice into the future. Lessons in painting will be complimented by bookmaking and drawing techniques to help broaden our lens for how we can paint. Each camper can create a color pallet of their very own; learn how to prepare paper and canvas to paint on and have plenty of time to create special works of art. We will also look to Art History, Contemporary Art History and other artist’s studios for inspiration.

Ready to explore an artistic side of yourself but not sure where to start? This class was designed to help. Throughout these studio sessions, students can gain knowledge and experience in a different visual art discipline each week: Bookmaking, Drawing, Color Theory/Painting and Printmaking; no experience necessary.
These sessions are offered in a sequence where each lesson builds upon knowledge and the artwork created during the previous class. Each session will include focused lessons and demonstrations; also time for open studio when students will have access to all of the materials available. It is possible and encouraged for students to chart their own path and create an individualized project that utilizes new skills gained during their time in the studio. All materials included.
